Fuel Pump TSB Question
The search tool (for some reason) gives me no results for this so...
For those of you that had a faulty fuel pump (after driving distances with cruise on, the car hesitates when accelerating after stopped), how did you get the dealership to actually replace the pump? I finally got around totaking my car in and after they had it for 6 hours they told me that they couldn't do anything about it and that they'd have to witness it happening to replace the pump. They admitted that there is a known problem with the pump, but that they wouldn't replace it just because I said it was happening. I was basically told that my car would have to throw a code in order for them to replace it. I know for a fact that it hasn't ever thrown any codes since I have an Xcal 2.
So, do any of you that had it replaced have any advice on what I should do or possibly any dealerships around the Quad Cities, IL/IA, that would replace it without giving me so much trouble???

go to another dealership
i went in , told them my symptoms, they didn't even test drive it
they said leave it with them for a day and it would be fixed
1 day later, i was rocking my car again with a new pump

Stealershipscan be such idiots! I agree take it to another one and see what they say. If it is done under Ford warranty the dealer gets reimbursed by Ford anyway so whats the deal? Oh because the stealership has to put in the man hours to replace it......lazy............ (this is not geared to those that actually do their jobs at Stealerships!)
+1
My car was throwing TB codes and was in limp move a few months back. I told the dealership that my TB was bad and would they fix it under warrenty (since I had the SC I thought I was screwed either way). They come back to me and say it is not the throttle body it is my ECU (computer) that is causing this problem and the ECU is not communicting with the TB. And since the installation of my Kenne Bell moved the position of the computer under the hood that must be the reason that the ECU is "fried". They tell me it will be 1300.00 not covered under warrenty[:@]I said no thank you and the guy says you owe 119.75 for the diagnosis[:@][:@][:@]I said if it is the TB I want my money back.
I called the shop that did my install and he said the dealership was full of sh*t. He called a friend at another dealership and this guy said we will fix either problem, the ECU or throttle body under warrenty and that they had seen 3 bad TB's that week alone.
The best part is I called Ford roadside asssistance and told them I did not like their diagnosis at the dealership I was at and they tower 35 miles to the "good" dealership for free.
I took the final paper work back to toriginal dealer and demanded my 119.75 back, and got it. I went back to my shop and give my guy 200.00 for helping me out.
Moral is there are good dealers out there (even mod friendly) you just need to search til you find one.

When I went to have mine done, the service mgr test drove it with me and said they couldn't replace it because they can't duplicate the problem. I told him you have to drive on the highway for over a half hour, which we obviously didn't do. He said he would run my VIN and see if anything comes up. Low and behold, the TSB came up as a potential problem for my car (duh! I had also given them a copy of the TSB!). He was fine after that, and ordered the part and installed it.
Another thing, make sure they realize that the pump is accessed by removing the rear seat and not dropping the fuel tank. They should realize this, but I heard of stories where dealers emptied and dropped the tank and made it a more complicated that it should be.

I printed the TSB and took it with me to the dealership. Explained to them the problem and stated that they cannot drive it for a long period. I have a really good dealership and they replaced it with no questions asked. Definitely take it to another dealership as they should fix it for you. Good luck!
