If you're going that route, better take that trunk lid apart and dynamat it. With two 10' L5's mine sounds like it's going to come apart from the outside. It's a tedious job but I'm going to have to attempt it sooner or later. My shop wanted an arm and a leg to do it for me. Time consuming process...

Bass is non-directional, it really shouldn't matter at all which way you position it.
