Default Pony side Fender emblems

Hey all
I got the left and right side Pony/barr Side fender emblems and want to install them. I asked the dealer how much and they said they would charge like $500 to isntall them as they gota take the side pannels off, drill the holes and put the pannels back on.

the question is, The 2 little tabs on the back, if I break them off and file them down. How well will the 3m tape hold them on. As I do not want to drill into the side pannel.

I was thiking about going with the pony/bay emblems then right under them get a custom 4.0 emblem to add to the final touch.

Thanks for the help

The bars are for POSITIONING and not holding, it's very very difficult to get the emblems in the right positon here. Overcome that and you're fine.

Exactly, DO NOT DRILL YOUR FENDERS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Fenders w/o holes are rare, wish I didn't have to weld in the alignment holes on mine. For assembly efficiency at the plant they need the alignment holes. To do one set you don't need it, measure carefully (you can borrow measurements from a V6 out of dealership lot) and use masking tape as alignment guides. You could even do a test using a thin film of rubber cement if you need to.

Just confirming what Legion5 said already. The tabs and corresponding hole allow the assembly line worker a quick, easy, and consistent method of applying the fender badges. Just peel and stick. This not only reduces assembly time (and money), but improves the quality of the finished product (vehicle).

Mine are held on by exactly the method you described. The tabs were gut off & filed down so as not to cause any paint damage & are held on just by the tape. Please learn from my mistake - fix them onto your fenders whilst the car is on a level surface, I didn't & overcompensated so they're a little crooked (guess I'll just have to do it again.(sighs)).

Mine came with the alignment pins on the backs. I cut them off and ground the remains off using a dremel. Make sure you measure twice and stick once. I used masking tape to make sure the measurements were correct and even used a small level to make sure they were level. Mine came in all chrome, but I used tiny pieces of sandpaper to scuff the outer stripes so they could be painted black and Grabber Orange.
