im researching a "chrome" finishing product to do some detail work on some trim pieces this winter. it looks like this is the best thing on the market. has anybody used it or seen it in person?

I wouldn't do it. I've tried chrome paint before. They're expensive and they don't look that good. Especially not for an interior part that you will be able to see close up. If you were using it on something under you car or something, maybe it wouldn't be that bad but I really don't think you'll be happy with it. -Joe

Would this product be good for bumpers on other cars? I've noticed my van has rust spots on the back bumper. I clean them off, but you can still see a dark grey area where the rust was. I thought about have the bumper dipped, but this might be less expensive.

they say it can be used for touch up work on real chrome. make sure you neutralize the rust first. they have complete kits available from pint size on up on ebay. the pint kit covers 200 sqft for $200.

I don't remember the brands. That was about 15 years ago. I gave up after trying 2 different types. I was trying to touch up a bad spot on a bumper also and it really stuck out, very obvious and it looked like crap. I wish I had never tried to touch it up at all. The messed up spot looked better than the touch up. Maybe the products are more advanced now and it won't be so bad. -Joe

I think, when used very subtley, chrome can look awesome inside or out. Check out this car from the gallery:

I too am curious to know if this product works well, thanks for the link.

The chrome paints from alsa corp aren't like those that you buy from wal mart. I have seen plenty of applications from the alsa paint, and it comes out fine. A friend had lemansstripes done with the alsa FX paint version done, and it turned great.
