Default Clutch Question!

Hey everyone.

I have had my 06GT for aboutlitte over ayear and a half now. It's a manual.
I am going on a roadtrip to Ruidoso this coming weekend and I was wondering.
How long does the clutch last on these cars before having to get them replaced?
Should I get mine checked before I take the trip?
It's about a seven hour drive and part of it is through the desert so I was wondering if I should get it checked before
I go.

Thanks!

Unless you've just torn the hell out of it, you shouldfine. I'm not sure exactly how long the clutch should last (this is the first manual I've ever owned), but if you've only had it for a year anda half, thenyou should begood, I would think.

I don't have much info on clutches, but I was a novice to manual transmissions (having never actually owned a car with a manual, but driven a couple but none for extensive periods of time) so I'm sure my clutch has taken some abuse. Plus trips to the track/daily driving. Mine has 27k miles, 2 years old. Still seems to be running alright but I'm no expert on clutches. I just drove to FL, 16 hours. Nearly straight through. Only problem I got was my fuel pump acting up, due to the TSB.

Unless you are overly hard on your clutch it should last over 80k miles.

You will probably be in 1 gear most of the time anyway...you'll be fine.

Go up a steep hill in 5th about 80 mph. Apply full throttle. If it doesnt slip your fine.

When going up a steep grade the clutch is less likely to slip if you use a lower gear.

I have known clutches to last over 100k miles. Depends on you and how you drive.

My previous SUV had over 100,000 miles on it before I had to replace the clutch and I hauled boats and camoers with it. Can't say about the Stang but I'd certainly HOPE I can get at least 60-80K miles out of it.

I've driven manuals all my life and I've never had a clutch go out on my and I've had cars with 150k+ on them. My son's '95 Honda Accord has about 270k on it and it shutters so that's not good. But we're talking a 12-13 year old car with 270k on it.... He bought it off my brother that bought the car new and had the clutch adjusted on it a couple of times but that was it. I'm not sure why you'd ask such a question unless you're experiencing some kind of a problem or just don't have any experience with manuals. Drivethatstang carefully and have agood trip.
