Default Back from dyno... disappointed.

I don't understand this. I just got back from the dyno and I managed to put down only 273.65 hp and 295.87 lb. ft.

I have a Steeda CAI, Steeda CMCV's, Magnaflow catted X-pipe, Steeda UDP's, and a 93 tune from Steeda.

The dyno was a dyno jet model 224.

To me, this seems extremely low. How can all those mods only make 273 hp and 295 lb. ft.? I read that dynojets measure hp/torque higher than mustang dynos so these numbers would be even lower.

My guess is the Steeda tune. Either the dyno was borked, or my Steeda tune sucks.

What do you guys think? Could there by factors with the dyno that are measuring incorrectly?

Thanks!

That does seem a bit low, considering the cooler weather, and the fact that it was on a Dyno Jet.

Well, A stock pony is going to lay down what, 260rwhp if she's pushing 300hp. 273rwhp is a good solid number, especially as you've [just]basically smoothed the airflow. Inlet & exhaust mods are good but you really need Cam & headwork to reap big returns from them.

You might get a bunch of numbers from different dynos but the best dyno is your own rear-end. Does it feel better? Crisper?

It definitely feels crisp. However, I feel the Steeda tune isn't as strong as Brenspeed or Bamachips. This has been on my mind lately, and I don't think I feel like forking out 75 bucks to possibly get the same results.

I guess we will see.

That's why I'm not taking my car to a dyno until I have more mods done!
I'm afraid of getting disappointed.

My opinion is that the combination of mods is what gives you more power!
So, you should choose the best combination of mods together!

I'd get Long Tube Headers, that should add a lot.
But then again I know how it feels to be a broke college student [8D]

Congrats on the Big Ten .. I go to Penn State btw!

I agree with the long tubes. I also think that my x-pipe wasn't a good decision. Its ok for now.

My father and I are going to be turning my car into our project car. A new Saleen S/C is on the way... (hopefully).

Thanks for the responses as well guys. I hope they keep coming.

dont get too hung up on the numbers. Should your numbers be higher ...probably....are there allot of factors that could have effected the numbers...most definitely....factors that could have effect on them in no certain order
1. tune? who's, what type etc
2. Dynojet. Does the place know enough to dyno it in 4th?
3: do you have the dyno sheet to load up> would love to see what it looked like, that can help in determining if the dyno was even run well.
4. altitude where you are, what are your gears, any other mods that you did not list....

I am assuming your car is a manual, I know my car with a auto, with Evolution Tune, C+L CAI (Street intake alum one) and kooks long tube headers with catted x-pipe ran 300.8 RWHP and 304lb torque.on a mustang dynamoterand it was 79 degrees out as well here in Fla. all dynos are different and all people who run these dynos do not know how to dyno our s197. Again, dont get too hung up on the numbers...what does your assometer tell you....does it feel faster....believe me, a little over a year ago, I was there...very disappointed with my numbers as well....check the tune and what gear they dynoed in for starters.....I attached the dyno sheet from about a year ago, Pre- Saleen

Sounds like you need a new tune. JMO
