It had a few problems when it first came out. But you just have to update the firmwire and you should be fine.

The update is on their website if it's not already updated.

If you have a 2007+ A5 you may need the Xcal3. Some are having trouble getting 3 complete programs in the Xcal2.
Since the Xcal3 has had some teething problems and adds no significant new features most tuners recommend getting
the Xcal2 unless you have a 2007+ A5.

The tuner in this case the interface X2 or X3 wont give you better performance of any kind one to another, what really matters is from who you´re runing your tune !
The interface is only the device that is used to upload your new tune.

I have an '08 GT, does that mean I would need to get the X3 instead of the Xcal2?

As far as I know only the later 2007+ A5's might need the X3.
Some people have problems loading 3 complete A5 programs in the X2, some dont.
The 2007 or older M5 should be fine with the the X2.
I dont know about the 2008 cars.
