I drive my 07 gt hard and I just noticed that there is a "burned rubber" smell coming from my car. I have isolated it to the engine area. The smell is like burned rubber or like something is fried. Does this sound familiar to anyone. can anyone point me into the right direction? I think I may have to put the stock intake back on and give it to Ford

 

That happens in my moms 02 suzuki vitara... never had it happen in my gt..

 

Check and see if a plastic grocery bag flew up and stuck on the catalytic converter......

I get the same thing with my '08 5 spd. It seems like it's worse if I slip the clutch a little before shutting it down, so I think it's the clutch.

 

What happened that night was I did a burnout when it was cold out and the car only warmed up for about 5 minutes. I am afraid that something in the engine broke since I redlines it in the cold for about 10 seconds. Could I have fried an engine component or something. The smell comes even when the car just sits and idles.

 

It was about 35 degrees outside at this time

 

anyone got any ideas?

 

smell of burnt rubber + burnout ? thats a hard one,have you checked your muffler bearings lately?
