Side Scoops

DO NOT use 70% alcohol or even 90%. The other ingredients in them are enough to contaminate the surface and prevent the best possible adhesion. Since I couldn't find 100% alcohol, I purchased a solvent at a local auto parts store specifically designed to strip the wax and oils off the surface without damaging the paint. Worked like a charm on the side scoops plus I used it on the quarter side window glass when I installed my louvers. Ditto on the temperatures and other "stuff" mentioned above except the addition of allowing everything to cure for 24 hours afterinstallation of the scoopsbefore driving.

RE: Side Scoops
I installed the factory GT/CS scoops -- without the screws into the sheetmetal. The screw tabs on the scoops are easily removable. Just be sure to prep the surface correctly and use ONLY 3M double-sided tape for the install.
I actually bought my side scoops one at a time via eBay (left side = $30, right side = $40) and saved a ton of money. If you can keep your eyes open and wait a while, this is the way to do it!

RE: Side Scoops
Holding up fine. I assume the reason Ford put the screws in the scoops was because they did not want the risk of the scoop coming off (and thus, warranty issues), and did it as an extra means of security. It's probably not necessary, seeing as every other side scoop does not require you to drill holes.

I'm getting the ford ones also, I like the look of them the best. Partscheap has them the cheapest I've found and as a reference, I had 2 body shops (one ford, one recommended by a friend) quote me $100 to paint both.

RE: Side Scoops
I agree and surface prep is everything!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ditto on the aftermarket and the 3M tape. I have a set prepainted from hubcapsplus.com and they've survived over 7000 miles and are solid as a rock. The paint was a perfect match, too, so consider aftermarket. With the tape, it's all in the surface preperation and application temperature that will determine how well they stay in place.

RE: Side Scoops
$239 off Ebay, includes paint and shipping. These are the cali special side scoops so they have clips, not just double sided tape.
EDIT: Maybe they dont have clips... anyways they work

I've bought several times from this seller, not side scoops, but hes trustworthy.
