I was going to purchase one but a few people said it was really clunky/unsmooth compared to stock and the MGW's....Is this true in your opinion?

It does feel different, not as smooth and I guess you could call it notchy. They say a 40% reductin in throw, although it feel like more than that to me. The nylon bushings keep the shifter solidly in place as opposed to the soft rubber ones on the stock shifter. I havn't driven the car with the Hurst installed yet but so far I like it. I'll let you know what I think of it after I drive it.

Congrats!! You'll love it.

It isn't as smooth as the factory shifter, but it's a lot more positive. No doubt which gear you're going to hit and the arm movement is sooooo much more natural. I had an old Ford work truck with the shifter on the floor and I swear it had a shorter throw than the factory Mustang shifter!!

I've got one and the first couple of days you're in heaven. Then I started to wish for something with the nice short throw that I could also get lazy with sometimes. You can't lazy shift with the Hurst for sure! The Hurst does look really good in the car though.

I think I'll give the MGW a try after the holidays but I'm keeping my nice black Hurst shift ball.
