Ram Air possible???

Ram Air possible???
I am about to pull the trigger on the jlt/xcal combo and stumbled on an idea earlier today. From all the posts i've read, none of the "cais" on the market are true cold air, because in order to be true cold air, you must pull air from outside the engine compartment. Now if that's correct, would there be a significant gain by channelling cold air to my jlt filter element?? If so, could this be done through the vent on the lower, driver-side portion of my front end?? For those of you familiar with the street scene front fascia, you know what i'm talking about. behind this opening is open space, and it's right below the filter element. some simple piping could do the trick to capture the air you're driving through essentially. am i way off?? is this a waste of time?? here's a pic......

If it will be driven in the rain, I suggest not doing that. If you hit a puddle, the CAI will suck water up into the engine and hydrolock you. Bad news! I would feel safer running my piping to an area in the upper grill.

The problem that you will have is thinks like leaves and such though. So just pay attention to it and keep it clean.
If you can make it work then do it. I did it to my 99 the same way. Since it wasn't visible at all I just used heating tubes and what not. It was cheaper at the time and no one sold the spectre stuff you can get at Pepboys for like 15 bucks.
But I would say "yes, it is possible"

It will always be beneficial to get colder air to the filter. There is of course no way to measure what the actual horsepower gain would be. But, there was someone that did there own little experament on the board a while ago. He noticed a 30 degree difference to the airbox by using a RAM air set up. So with that I am sure that you will have a sort of positive gain. But who knows. If it were me I would do it, but I have a lot of time on my hands too.

Heres an idea and I dont know if its even possible on these cars, but how about removing the drivers side headlite? [8D]
I removed the outer drivers side headlite on a grand national I had many years ago and volia, ram air! lol
