Default Help with a billet grill

Finally got the $ for a billet grill. I see there's several out there-american muscle, classic design, stage3. Can you help with your experience; what did you get, where, how hard to install, happy with grill????????????

there are indeed a lot of options. originally, i went with a billet overlay that deleted the pony. i liked it a lot for awhile (it's still the pic in my sig), but eventually i decided to go whole hog and get a cdc replacement grill. the cdc deletes the fogs and the pony and i absolutely love it. the only part of the install that was tricky was removing the stock grill - those little tabs holding it to the fascia are a b*tch to get undone. cdc is a bit pricey at $300, but well worth it imo.

I too did the overlay (purchased from American Muscle), but will be doing the CDC replacement this spring. The billet overlay improves the appearance of the front, but I want to go with the black CDC. Good luck and happy shopping!!

are these overlays steel or aluminum? i've seen a lot of aluminum ones for sale on ebay...i'm usually kind of dodgy buying things on ebay for the most part though.

get the replacement from CDC because the cheap overlay grille looks like a cheap overlay grille.

i think most of the grilles are aluminum - i know the cdc one is aluminum, but it's also powder and clear coated; the thing is heavy and really good quality. the overlay i have is also pretty substantial, but pales in comparison to the cdc one. there's quite a few shoddy grilles on ebay, though.

btw unsocbl, i have the black cdc - i'll put up pics once i have the chance. it looks sick, though - i love it. big improvement over the overlay. the only downside, which is minimal imo, is that it's a good idea to paint the radiator, etc. behind the grille cuz you can see in pretty easily.

You've got to post pics! I would love to see that black billet grill on a black car.

Go with the CDC for sure. From what I've seen, their quality is unmatched. Might cost a little more, but you get what pay for.

The reason is because the overlays have to have the horizontol bars closer so that you can't see the stock grill behind the overlay.
