Default Gutting cats

Has anyone gutted their cats and can let me know the best way to do it? I've founda cheaph-pipe w/cats and was thinking of gutting the cats and turning it into an off road.

I may just pony up for the off road H if it's too difficult.

Disregard this post. I'm just going to get an off-road h. just priced them and $200 is nothing to do it right.

We only have to get emissions testing every 2 years here in TX and I'm good until 12/08 so I'vedecidedto run catless for awhile. I can turn off my rear 02's with my tuner.

good to know. just thought I would do it on the cheap. no matter, I'm ordering a JBA off-road h to fit in it's place (unless I can have a local exhaust shop modify the cheap h and cut out the cats for less).

Not true. A new car doesn't have to be inspected in Texas until two years after you purchase it. But after that, you have to get it inspected every year.

This is my first car in TX and it had a 2 yr sticker on it. Thats why I thought it was 2 yr inspections. Also good to know. Thanks.

I can remove/reinstall the h-pipe in about an hour so it won't be a problem to swap it yearly.

Throw never sieze on the threads of the O2 sensors. Makes it easier to swap it out come emissions time ....

Will do. Hopefully the guys that installed my current h-pipe used anti-seize. I'm really wondering how it's going to sound w/o the cats on. I took some vids of my current exhaust and will get some more after the h-pipe install. I've heard that it's not much diff than w/ the hi-flows but we'll see. I'm off all next week and need a project so I'm going to give it a shot.

Good thing you decided to install an off-road pipe. The stock cats are about $700 to replace!
