CAI / Tune: Just Do IT!!!
Okay here is a CAI / Tune Report by someone with absolutely nothing to sell.
Drivability: With the 93 Octane Race Tune (Bama)the car is muchmore responsive but it is not at all to much.
It reminds me of a 5.0 HO Fox Body not a 428CJ. It now "hits" hard when you release the clutch during launch and shifts.
It doesnt "Lay Down" like stock. A slight blip of the throttle gives instant rpm change for downshifts.
Fuel Mileage: If I lost anyI cant tell it. Stillhigh 20's on the Interstate.
I might even have picked up some (based on first tank results) but I need to run more tanks to verify.
Around town is off a little but thats likely from the Driverenjoying the new response.
Noise:
I cant seem to hear any intake roar from the CAI (JLTII). Unless it blends with the exhaust.
Theexhaust seems louder, definately. Thats with stock Cats and Mufflers.
Performance:
My cars all timefastest1/4 miShowroom Stock with me driving was a 2.031 13.495@103.3 mph.
Despite worse air the car improved on the first day at the track to 2.017 12.973@107.09 mph.
Given thedifference in air (Roughly 600' DA)I feel I have picked upclose to 0.6 and 4+ mph.
The 60' are very comparable, especially if you consider the power gain.
0-60 dropped from 4.69 to 4.17 Seconds.
I suspect most of the major vendors "Mailorder" Tunes are comparable
as are the CAI's. Just contact your vendor of choice and do it!
A CAI / Tune pkg really does work on these cars.

RE: CAI / Tune: Just Do IT!!!
I can't remember who on here said it, but someone called the CAI/Tune Combo "Mustang 101"
Fair review, and the combo is definitely a first step for anyone looking to pick up a few ponies for cheap.

Either way, the tune/cai is out the window. $600 down the drain for 3 months worth of enjoyment.. *sigh*
