Default SS Braided Brake lines?

I'm looking at getting SS braided brake lines. I see Steeda has a nice set for $230, but Summit Racing has some from Earl's that are only $120. Both are supposed to have the proper fittings and be made to bolt in. Anyone have any experience with either set? Are the Steeda ones $100 nicer, or are you paying more for the name?

Thanks for any input!

Hey there,

Site sponsor here - we sell Goodridge Gstop Stainless Steel Brakeline Kits - pretty much the standard in professional motorsports where the ultimate in braking is required. They are $216.70 for all four corners ('05 and up Mustang). Free shipping right now ($9.95 Insurance and Handing fee).

If interested, give me a call at 866-278-8287 x134.

Thanks Much

I'd like to follow up on what the OP asked. Why are Goodridge or Steeda better than these?

That's pretty much what I'm trying to figure out. What is the difference besides the name and $100? Any thoughts?

I use the Goodridge on my Audi A4and Vw Gti. I will be using on the Mustang as well when I start working on the brakes. I've never used Earl so I can't help you there, but I've never had a problem with the Goodridge. $216 is very expensive, not to knock a sponsor, but you can get them from another sponsor, Tire Rack, for $142.

So I guess there isn't a $100 difference between the Goodridge and Earl's. What about the Steeda's? Has anyone used these, or seen different brands in person to be able to compare?

Brakes is the last place where I would get cheap.

I run the Stoptech brake upgrade from Brenspeed which has SS lines, fluid, and pads.

The SS lines came in a Stoptech bag but I don't know how much different they are from Earls.

With just the lines and fluid I felt a significant difference in brake feel, pedal effort, and presumed stopping distances. It may not significantly improve stopping distances until I switch out the pads (stockers still have lots of life left), but it is a confidence builder.

More expensive does not always = better! Did anyone notice that Earl's is tested to 4000 Psi and Goodrich to 3000 psi?

I'd go with Earl's!
