Default Trunk light mount!!

I need some help. I have had my 07 GT for 1 year, have 51,000 miles on it. (yea, I know)
Ever since shortly after I got it, closing my trunk has caused the trunk light to fall out of its mount. I would fix it, then it would stay for a couple months, then I would find it hanging out by its cord again. Have taken out the metal mount thing and messed with it. When I got close to 36,000 miles, I thought I had fixed it, so did not take it in as warrenty repair.
Last week took to dealer where I bought it. He looked at it and said replacement was $20. He said if I wanted to try to fix it, that the plastic teeth on the bulb housing appeared to be "not sticking out enough" on one side, and if I used heat and patience, perhaps I could "retrain" the plastic teeth to stick out.
Seems surprising to me that 1) Ford can make a 4.6 3v power engine work, but not a plastic and metal light, and 2) no one else has reported having this problem.
If I could find a blow up diagram on this, perhaps it would help me fix it. I am about to break out the duct tape, Hate to have to buy a new one...

Any help out there??

I had this problem. Used a little rubber cement on it and it hasn't come off again in over a year. Just make sure you use something pliable so you can get it out when it's time to replace the bulb. I went the simple route, no diagrams or pics, sorry.

Wow. This was easier than I thought. Simply removed the blackplastic cover that covers the back up light from inside the trunk. It just pops off. Then removed cable, mounted metal bracket and light, then hot glued it from the inside. Recnnected cable, popped back. Easy.

reminds me off the freakin ppl that come into the the auto parts store i work at.. they want to replace the thing that broke.. and they find out it actually costs money, and isnt free.. and they are like "fck that".. seriously, if you cant afford it, thats one thing.. but just being a cheap *** is another.. if it was an old beater, than yea.. fck i would just super glue that btch on..

Mine falls out EVERY time I close the trunk.

I'm sure having two 10's in there doesn't help either, though...

You know, you are probably right--I probably am cheap!! But thats just my nature. It I can make something work, I will
Couse, hot glue is probably not the answer to most things that might happen to my stang

Easy and cheap fix. What more could anyone ask for....?

There's no guarantee that a new $20 part will stay in place any better than the factory one. It's a relatively poor design anyway. I'm sure you'd feel pretty foolish if you spent the $20 and it fell out the first time you closed the trunk.

You went with a proven fix. Smart choice.
