Just bought an 05 GT

RE: Just bought an 05 GT
Those of you who are paying around $19,500..... what was the sticker on the car... I don't mean new sticker price, what was the initial asking price from the dealer, the one that they had in the paper or on the car. The reason I ask is this.. I have been thinking of getting a used coupe, but around here (eastern Pa.), if I stop at a dealer, and they have a used 05 GT, the opening asking price is usually like $24,000. This is so high that I don't even bother engaging them.
So, are you guys seeing the same thing and getting $4000 off when you negotiate? I obviously know dealers ask more than they want, but even the KBB is much more than $19,500 and I am just wondering how you are getting them down so much? Are you negotiating over a many week period? Or one hard session the day you buy the car?

Sounds like agood deal to me. I paid 26800 for a 29500 sticker and 0% for 72 months, so that is another huge savings in interest also. But I waaaaayyyy made up for that in mods and will really blow the wallet up in 2 weeks after the blower. But Ill be as I pass up unsuspecting people.

Hey, here's my advice: don't worry about what the dealer is asking for. Heck, they could ask for 300,000 and it wouldnt matter. Cars have a defined, objective value that is dictated by the free market economy. Once you estimate what that number is, stick to that range and don't budge.
And btw, KBB is way way way off on that value for MOST cars. It's usually way too high, it's not really even worth lookin' at.
Don't wanna brag... but I got such a killer deal on an 06 GT Premium with 835 miles, auto, interior upgrade pckg and anti-theft at just by using that tried and true method. (This was a month ago.)
It's a good way to buy anything really.
(Btw, you wanna get another GT on top of the Vert you already own? Haha... thats extravagant...)

By saying that the dealer called your bluff and saying that you guess you will have to sell your 99 that you sound very happy with, I have a suggestion - resell the 2005 and put a higher price on it than you paid to make a profit.
If you really do want the 05, by all means keep it. It just kind of sounds a bit like you really didn't want the car, are trying to justifty buying it, and are a little bit put off that you have to sell your 99 now.
Regardless, enjoy the new one or the old one, whichever you prefer!

The internet really changes everything. Sure, a dealer can ask $24k if he likes, but he won't sell the car. Instead, I just go to the web and pick from hundreds of vehicles and considering it's an open market, you should be able to find one at a fair price.

Unfortunately there are always better deals out there but most people don't spend time looking. Dealerships suck. Here you go man. Read it and weep.
