Default Do I need a tune?

Hey everyone, Noob here.

So here's my question. I have an '06 V6 Pony. I put a K&N CAI in it and Magnaflow DE with Y pipe. Do I need to buy a tuner to get the horses I paid for? If so, which one do you guys reccomend?

Thanks a bunch.

P3GA5U5.

Yes, the tune is what makes the difference. As far as which one, now there's the million dollar question. Do some research, search the threads and you'll find more opinions/reviews than you'll know what to do with.

No matter how much research you do, you'll always regret something you've done. I'm sure everyone on the forums wishes they didn't buy this part, or that part... or deal with this company or that company... That's the beauty of the forums.

To answer your question, I don't know too much about the tuning of the V6. With that being said K&N has designed their intakes to allow for the benefits without having a tune. With that being said you will gain more with a tune, but that's not necessarily due to the K&N CAI. I highly recommend using Brenspeed. Over half the people on the forums use Brenspeed, they stand behind their product, and the results are great.

A custom tune will wake your pony up quite a bit -- I personally like using the dyno to tune mine but if you decided to go with a mail order tune then I hear great things about Brenspeed or BAMA. I would also look at local shops in your area to see what Programmer they use at their dyno in case you would later decide to go that route. Your options for the programmer it's self would be SCT Xcal or Diablo Sport. I have owned both and personaly like the Diablo better
