Default Question

Who changed their underdrive pulleys and re-used the factory bolt, Yes I know it calls for a new bolt. Just wondering of you re-used it and have had any issues with it.

I intend to replace it as soon as my dealership gets one in. I have been to 4 dealers in my area and none of them have one, I will try one more on the way home from work this morning.
I installed the pulleys already using the factory bolt but dont drive the car due to winter hybernation. When I got the pulleys I couldnt find a bolt anywhere so I just put the old one on to get the pulleys installed.
I was just wondering if anyone else re-used them with or without any issues.

Personally I dont think you would have any issues. I do know that many of the one time use bolts that Ford uses in their suspensions can be used again but I would error on the side of caution and replace anyway. If you can torque it down to the proper specs and not have any issues with loosening you are golden. Its when you cant get the bolt to torque properly and stay that way it will lead to problems. J

I hope Sutton High Performance has a bolt for me. They are on my way home from work so I was going to stop in. I want to get the car back out on the road when ever the roads dry up but I want to be sure to have a NEW bolt installed before then.

Its been 2 months sinceI last drove my GT and it's driving me nuts to just look at it in the garage.

Well I picked up a new bolt on the way home from work today. Hopefully I can put it on this weekend, Might be a bit difficult to do with the temps in the single digits. Might have to borrow a torpedo heater for the garage

I don't recall my Steeda instructions saying you needed to use a new bolt. I've had mine on for about 10,000 miles, no issues. Infact I used the wrong pulley puller and thought I messed something up... but still no.

You dont need to replace the bolt unless it is a one-time-use fastner.
