Aftermarket brake kits
Depends on what you want to do.
Personally I am not a big fan of Baer.
Lots of people like StopTech.
My short list when $ has been an object was Brembo and Wilwood and now I add AP Racing to that list.
Of course if money was not an object, the PFC ZR series mated with PFC01 pads would be on my car in a heart beat.

I was at Steeda and they had a Stang up on the lift with a set of Stoptech's on. Now, call me a cynic ( ..... 5, 4, 3, 2, 1) but they were Brembos, I'm almost 100% sure and I should know,I fitted my own Brembos, I can feel my way round that caliper in the dark.

I can get the Baer GT-Plus front kit for 1K. Is that a good deal? Post pics of what you have and why you like em.

Hi jerseyblood,
Call Hawaii Racing or visit the website and ask for a better deal, I gotthe 14" BaerGT Plus kit (drilled 2-pices rotors) and matching one piece rear rotors for $1,300 which is what most shops want just for the GT Plus kit alone. Think of the Baer rear rotors as a free gift with purchase! The GT Plus kit usesa 2-piston PBR caliper which are the same clampsas used onC5 and C6Corvettes whichas you know have excellent brakesbutthe Baer GT Plus kit gives you 14" 2-piecerotors which the Corvettes don't have stock.
These are excellent brakes withthe same stopping capability as any of the big buck AP Racing, Brembo,StopTech or Wilwood4 or 6-piston calipers but the 2-piston PBR calipers will fit more wheels than either of the other brands 14" offerings because they are about 13-25mm shallower on the face of the caliper than the 4-6 piston calipers. This means you don't have to use spacers or ugly wheels if you don't want to just to fit larger brakes. Brake pads are easy to find as all you have to do is order C5 or C6 front brake pads in the compound of your choice.
Let me clarify something which is a simplefact about brake systemsfor you, the number of pistons hasabsolutely no bearing on the stopping power of a well designed big brake kit. The realityis thatall of the braking is done by the tires on your car so unless you increased the ability of your car's tires you will be sorely disappointed in the new big buck 4 or 6 piston big brake kits stoppping distances. Pedal feel andpedal travel toinital bite can all be tuned with brake pad compound and brake lines. Stopping distanceis a product of the tires entirely.

Baer plus, is that with the rear? Cause if not, I believe the Baer front kit is only like $750.

You are thinking of the Baer kits that move the stock calipers out board to squeeze the 14" rotors. The GT Plus kits come with new calipers, mountsand hoses in addition to the 2-piece rotors. The Baer kit that relocates the stock calipers is available for $650 for the fronts.

Cheapest I seen the front Baer 14" with 2 piston calipers was just over 1k. I believe they are a perfectly capable setup.

Yes they are very good brakes and perfectly capable as you say. After all they are just C5/6 Corvette brakes only better.

Hey There,
AP Racing - as a point of reference, in 2006 alone, AP Racing brakes were chosen by the series winners in Formula One (Alonso), NASCAR Nextel Cup (Johnson), Busch Series (Harvick), Craftsman Trucks (Bodine), LeMans 24 Hours (Magnusson, Gavin & Beretta), LMP2 (Maassen & Lohr), GT1 (Gavin & Beretta), GT2 (Bergmeister), GrandAm GT (Lally), Daytona Prototype (Bergmeister), BTCC (Neal), DTM (Schneider), WTC (Priaulx), Australian V8 Supercars (Kelly), P-WRC (Al Attiyah), British Group N (Higgins), and more.
Also, specialty manufacturers such as Aston Martin, Bugatti, Caterham, Holden HSV, Koenigsegg, Lotus, Noble, Spyker, TVR and more rely on AP Racing as the brake kits they install as standard equipment. Says something for sure.
Here is a picture of the 6 piston front brake.

As always, feel free to give me a call (866-278-8287 x134) or shoot me an E-mail (PageN@Stillen.com) if there is anything I can do to help.

Yeah, I just got my internet back and went and checked them out. Yeah, it was the ones without the Calipers I was talking about. But I do know for a while Lethal Performance had the ones that included the Rear calipers as well for $1800. So to me it's seems better to just save the extra $500 and get the rear calipers too.
