Default Emissions Inspection

Hey there fellow drivers, it's been a while since I've been on the forums but here's the deal:

It's inspection time and this time they're going to do the emissions test. I'm in NY (Westchester) and I'm wondering whether my car is going to pass or not. Probably not.

I have a 2005 GT with anO/R pipe and an SCT tune, the car isn't throwing any codes as far as I can tell but I don't know exactly what they check for when they hook the OBD port up to the main computer at **** HQ so I'm wondering if any other New Yorkers with mods on their 'Stangs have any advice for me.

I've heard that just returning the car to stock before the inspection might not even be enough because big brother can tell when the computer was last reset and might just decide to fail me for that. Other people have said that my car might just pass as-is.

So what's the deal here? What do I need to do? Anyone out there been through this already? I've already racked up a few tickets for an expired sticker so I'm going to have to get this sorted out one way or another.

Honestly, why does the man insist on busting my ***** ALL the TIME? I'm tempted to just move to a free country where I can do things like smoke cigarettes in a bar and play poker online.

Hey, no need to find a new country, just move to MI. There's no emissions inspections around here.

We have the same test in Virginia, they test for the Rear O2 sensors, they must be working in order to pass
so You will need to have your tuner setup a tune with the O2's active and you need to put CATs back on the car.
I went through a month of failures before I got it right. I have charge motion delete plates so going back to the stock tune
was not an option for me since your O2 have to go through 3 -4 Cold start and hot start cycles and 100 mile drive for the sensors
to register.

So you must have the Cats and your tuner need to turn on the rear o2 sensors then you will pass

Well from the tone of your post, I would guess you do not have your Stock H pipe anymore
If this is the casemay I suggest that you try posting in the want adds on this forum and others for people
close to you that either have one for sale cheap or rent

Who Tuned your Car is it and SCT or Preditor? did you use Mail Order or local tuner? Most of them should modify
your tune for free ora smallfee for adjustment.

I do still have the stock pipe, also, with the pipe I have (ProChamber) I have the option of putting the cats back in so I'll probably just do that and return the car to the stock tune for a couple of days before the inspection to give the sensors time to register.

I have an SCT unit and I had the car tuned at Evolution Performance down in PA but I don't think I'm going to be able to get all the way back down there this week.

Oh if only it were that simple.I live in the Bronx, we have more than our share of "shady" shops here but unfortunately here in NY the shop's computer connects to the state's inspection computer and tells them everything so there's not much you can do to work around it AFAIK.
