Default 07 AC *****??

I plan on getting a Steeda anodized aluminum center console, radio, center control kit but from what I have read the AC ***** on the 07's cannot be removed. Is this true? I think with all of the satin aluminum look the black AC ***** would look out of place. I also have not seen any satin covers as well.....any assistance would be great.

The 2007 ones do not come off unless you break them off. The ones available for us are covers.

Yea, most I've seen come in either chrome or satin.

I found these on stage3motorsports............They look like they may be satin finish. They say it matches the interior color

I installed these:

Used installation option #1, breaking off the OEMs (easy) and install the new (not as easy). When you break the OEMs off, you'll have to remove the tiny plastic tabs that are left in the hole - much more harder than it sounds, or maybe I should say tedious. Take your time and be careful not to mar the console plastic that surrounds the ***** - there's not a lot of room. ALSO, when pushing the new ***** on don't push too hard and watch that when they're on they are not touching the console plastic - if they are, you will scratch the hole surround when you go to turn the *****. I did and had to fix it with a Sharpie. I know others on here had a similar issue - the overhang of the ***** still needs more clearance IMHO.

They look really nice, just be careful and take your time.

SHR is the only replacement ***** available for '07+. Just take your time. The removal of the old ones is quick and easy. If you're worried about scratching everything, use installation method 2. I used method 1 and it only took about 20 minutes all together. Here's a few pics of mine.

Darkfire.....those look pretty good. I am not too sure about the whole breaking off thing. What exactly would I be breaking? Also....I know it may be a dumb question but how do they light up?

I'll get some pictures this weekend for you. But basically, there is a rim around the ****. It has three small holes in it. The AC control unit has three small pieces that hold the **** in by going through those holes. The plastic rim is very thin. When you grab the **** with pliers and pull, it comes out with minimal force. For each hole, you'll leave 1-3 small pieces of plastic. I used a vaccum to get most of it, then dug around with a small pick to make sure there were no more pieces.

The whole process may sound scary. But it's not. Marcello wouldn't make you do anything to your car that would ruin it.

I'll be looking for the pics this weekend....How do you think it would look with the steeda anodized aluminum set up? I have yet to see anyone that has it.
