That sucks! The guy who sold the stuff to you is right, it IS a simple bolt-on. Takes a few hours with jackstands even for me who always has problems.

These guys were clearly too lost to do it. Idiots.

My fear now is that its welded too much and you'll have to pay a new place $$$ to have it fixed.

But, most importantly, dont be TOO scared that something is broke. Its just an exhaust. It can be replaced in segments wherever needed, theres nothing to it. But I'm sure yours can be fixed.

The most important thing? Dont go back there. Bitch at them if you want, but dont give them your car. They'll mess something up behind your back to get revenge on you for coming back. Never trust people. Id hate to say youre out $$$ but if it were me I would not let them touch my car again because they get mad just like anyone else.

exhaust shops are a joke...i was runnin open headers on my mopar and figured i'd spend a hundred bux or so to have the pipes ran to my sidepipes the right way.....nobody around would do it, but one shop and they wanted 600 bux.....so, i took my car, bought some pipe and did it myself for about 30 bux...i'd done exhaust myself before obviously, but like someone else said, you can do just as good a job yourself, it's not complicated stuff :P

I've posted about doing duals on a V6 before. It is ALMOST a bolt on job. Ya gotta cut the pipein front of the y, or at least I had to with what my customer supplied me, to make it a dual just like the V8s. Measure 3 or four times then cut. Making it fit and look rightwasnot much of aproblem. I was more worried about cutting the rear valance to make way for the second exhaust tip. Thats a mistake that can be easily seen.

Meineke installed my long tubes and X pipe. No problems and they did a good job. Spendy though. It was about 575.00 for the install. Took them about 6 hours.

crap muffler shops suck, i know the feeling and frustration, my friend has a 98gt and we took it to meineke to put on his slp x pipe cuz his car was too low for us to get to it at the time (all my stands and tools are at home in houston and im here at school in san antonio) but they were about to weld on his slip fit x pipe and cats so that we couldnt put on test pipes later and they charged him $50 more than they quoted for some of the DUMBEST reasons ever, luckily we caught them before they started welding s**t but he still got shafted and i take after my friends cars almost as much as mine and we were pissed[:@]

My cousin and I put my exhaust on, but just for fun we got a quote from Midas. They said they wouldn't do it because it is illegal (no cats, we already knew they'd say that) but then they said if we paid them cash "off the record" they would do it....for $1300. Ha.

Is your Mustang a 07 or 08? The later half of the 07 model run and all of 08 Ford used different exhaust hangers, all rubber. The bolt on kits out there are made for the older hangers that are rubber inside medal. That maybe the problem. Most exhaust sellers for Mustangs know this and also sell the older style hangers.

Ok first and foremost, If your exhaust is doing something as you describe, You need to take this back with a print out or letter from the place you bought the parts from Stating this is a direct bolt up for your year model.

Then you need to have this Shop either Return your car to the way it was before the work, OR pay you money for Stock exhaust parts and the labor to have it replaced by someone else.

END of story, DO not take anything less
