Axleback LIVE comparisons..... (thanks)
Hello all,
Before I get flamed, I've read all the exhaust posts and the excellent (huge!) guide. However, as everyone knows, you really can't get a good feel for the sound off of a PC. I currently have Flowmaster ATs on and I like it but I'm thinking of switching to MACs or MAC Boomtubes. I don't want to go through the hassle of switching if the difference is negligible so I wanted to see if anyone that has heard all three in person can help me out. I don't want something really obnoxious but, like I said, I also don't want something that is barely different from my current ATs. Any advice would be much appreciated. Here in Northern VA, there are hardly any Mustangs and I have yet to encounter one with an after market exhaust...
Thanks for reading!

- well first thing i can tell you is that either the macs or boomtubes will sound a lot different than the Flowmasters. I barely noticed the Flowmasters over the stock setup.
- the macs will be the deepest but i think that they lose their aggressive note in the upper rpms, they have huge ***** down low.. but then get kind of tame as you go through the rpms.
- the boomtubes have a smiliar tone but lack the mac's enormous drone.. and don't get tame through the rpms.
i've had quite a few damn exhaust setups [:-]

I have heard in person...
On an S197...
Flowmaster AT....deep at idle, but raspy as the rpms rise
Borla Stinger....perfect
Stock Mufflers....very tame, but sound good
On a 2004 GT...
Mac Axleback with ORH....LOUD, but nothing distinctive about it that sounds good
Flowmaster....sounds good, but a bit airy at idle
This is my complete "in person" Mustang GT exhaust experience.

I will be installing FRPP stingers on my 08 on saturday, had them on my 07 for about a year loved them, so got another set for my 08. I will be in northern VA Sunday afternoon, so if you really want to hear what a real V8 sounds like with amazing axlebacks, shoot me a pm and we can setup a place and time to meet on Sunday.
Cheers

I've heard the MAC's and Flows in person (not boomtubes though) and the description above was definitely right. REALLY low down low but drone like mad. They are defintely louder than the flows but it's been a while and can't remember exact details anymore.
You're always welcome to MoCo to hear Corsa's in person. My g/f lives in Northern VA but I don't have the mustang down there all that often because I don't like it left out in the weather and at her apartment complex where they like to ding doors.
