In a jam.....luxury or performance?!
I drive an 04 Acura TSX. I absolutely love my car but after seeing an 05 Mustang in a neighbor's driveway and seeing it at the NYC car show, I'm getting tempted to go after one.
Right now I can only afford one car so it has to be one or the other. The Acura and the Mustang would both be around 30K and my payments would be about the same so money is also not the issue.
I'm trying to decide what would be the right car. The Acura is def more of a luxury car with many creature comforts, including steering wheel radio controls, sunroof, heated seats, dual climate, etc. At the same time, the Mustang GT has the monster engine, great sound, awesome exterior design, and a decent interior. I would be missing out on 4 doors, a decent backseat, heated seats, and steering wheel controls, among other small things.
I am currently in NJ and I know a RWD car isn't the most practical choice for the type of climate we receive here. However, I may be re-locating to FL by year's end so this also has to be taken into consideration.
I'm having a hard time coming to a good decision on this so all advice and opinions welcome.

Was facing a similar decision myself...
I went with the car I started drooling over when I looked at it...
Sure luxury cars are all fancy and stuff... but the stang is simple... it's a beautiful design of new and old...
decide if practicality and luxurious features are more imporant too you than that mean look and the power...
it was an easy decision for me
I only ended up with the V6 (but I got the 'vert, and the GT 'vert wasn't in production when I got mine)...

I'm a little north of you, in Connecticut, and I gotta say this: the reason I went with a V6 is cause after driving a couple GT's, It was obvious it couldn't be a daily driver in snowey areas. It was a tough decision to go V6, but I *thought* I was trading in my 01 cavalier (only to get out of the last year of payments). But after realizing I was really gonna get screwed on it, I pulled it out of the deal, intending to sell it myself. 2 weeks later I decided the v6 was too nice to risk wrecking in the snow,so I'm gonna tough out 2 carpayments for a year, so I have the cavalier for winter. Now I wish I bought the darn GT. oh well.
Point is, in your area, unless you can get another car for winter (even a beater), I'd stay with the Acura. Unless Florida works out, that is, which of course I'd say GT all the way.
Before I get labeled a pu**y for not wanting to drive a GT in the snow, it's the other people on the road who can't drive that I'm worried about. Not to mention I'd be too tempted to drive a GT too fast for conditions!

have you test driven either of these cars? wich one did you feel most comfortable in wich one felt more you? wich one did you like driving better? i mean looking at buy a car driving it are 2 very diffrent things. you may find out alot just by going down the road wich one fits your life style better.
Of course, I HAVE an 05 GT, so the decision would be a no-brainer for me. This car is hot. You will not regret getting one, trust me. It's comfortable, FAST, FAST, FAST, and gets nods and loads of attention every day. True, it isn't a luxury vehicle, but muscle cars aren't about extra pampering. They're about what's under the hood. It's a bonus the the GT is a fantastic looking, well-designed car. It does have an alarm system, remote keyless entry, a good stereo system, and side airbags available, so it's not totally bare bones. About the only complaint I have is that the seat belt cuts into my neck (I'm 5'5").
Of course, I live in Oregon where cars just have to be able to drive in rain, so that part of it wasn't an issue for me. This was a third car for our family (sixteen year old daughter got my old Durango), and I was feeling pretty guilty the day I picked it up, even though we paid cash. The guilt has faded completely. No regrets at all.
You will love this car. Buy one. [sm=trust_me.gif]

Hey Brau~ I have a 93 Ranger 4wd. It is worth about 2500$ 150000 miles. the V6 Feels like it wants to die a quick death. I have it so that I have something i don't give a crap about driving in the snow. The GT is for good weather and good times. the truck is to grind out the bad days with. Own a car and a truck. Go out and find an older small size pickup cheap and do your snow thing with a 4wheel drive. You are an American, you should own at the minimum two cars.

Dude, if you get the Acura, you'll regret it every time you see and hear a GT go by.

As far as having two cars.....that just won't happen. Do you know how much insurance for a 21 yr. old in NJ is? There is no way I have the extra cash for the second vehicle OR the insurance that goes along with it.
If I end up going to FL at the end of the year then I would be staying with my parents for about a year while I look for my own place. If that happens, then GT all the way. The problem is that I hate waiting! I want it now!!
may naboolou have you test drove both of these cars? if so wich one did you like better i would base a decision on how each one drove, felt and what you liked disliked on either one and less on weather and whare you live i know of alot of people who drive their stangs in the snow traction control or not. trust me you won't drive to fast in bad weather you will be too concerned about protecting your baby or at least i am. ya just have to be careful. sounds like you have kind of already chosen the stang don't let a silly thing like weather change or affect your decision.
