Default what would you get for performance for $1000

i posted yesterday about getting LT headers or nitrous. i've decided to get headers.....almost. Is there anything else you would get that would be more beneficial than the headers? like gears (don't really want to do gears though)and pullies, pullies and delete plates, or any other combo? i have $1000 max, so install would have to be included. i am not going FI so don't tell me to save for a supercharger. thanks.

LT's are for sound only. Get gears.

Actually don't LTs have surprisingly good performance results?

LT's are for sound only. Get gears.

is that from personal experience or just what you heard or read from these boards? i would really like the opinionsof people that actually have the product.

From what I've read on here, LT's are worth maybe 7-10hp (BIG DEAL!...don't think butt dyno will feel it)...unless you are FI, and then it gets close to 20hp. They say our stock heads flow well.

The sound of LT's with the right exhaust setup is sweet music!

I like this sound http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qih5SwoZ1Lw but it needs some high flow cats of some kind to get rid of the "card shuffling" sound.

EDIT: This is just from reading the posts. I don't have any personal experience with headers. I was considering them for a while, but then I decided that changing my exhaust sound slightly and gaining 7hp was not worth $1,000....or whatever it costs for headers and installation. That small hp gain can be done easily with smaller rims and skinnier tires.

Can you buy a set LTs with install for $1,000? I thought that was closer to $1,500 - $2,000

...like I said..."whatever it costs"

You might find some cheap headers for about $500, but I've heard installation prices are outrageous....maybe $700.

There was an LT thread up a couple of days ago that had a lot of info about this.
