Default Hint for people that get OIL changed at a shop.

Just a little hint for people getting their oil changed at a shop. Take a sharpie marker with you to the auto shop. Write the date and current mileage on your new oil filter. Next time you get your oil changed, check the date and mileage on the filter the shop removes to ensure your filter is actually being changed. New oil with old filter is a useless waste of money. Unless you know your shop is reputable, this isn't a bad idea.

I live in a town home with a Home Owners Association, that doesn't allow mechanical work in the parking lots.....($250.00 fine for auto repairs/maintainance) ..AND I have neighbors that call the H.O.A when I pop my hood.....*expletives at his neighbors*

That's a good idea. Not saying all shops do this but some shops def. do. Nothing malicious behind their actions, they don't wanna harm your car or anything, but since the customer won't know the difference until much later down the line they can get away with doing less work.

They rip you off, I would not recomend going to a quick oil change place. Not only that they do not care what tye of oil goes into your car.

It's still a verygood idea for mostregardlessif you have the dealership, shopor a jiffylube type joint. People you can 100% trust your car to are getting few and far between.
