Default Ran Over Something on the Freeway

While driving on the freeway today there was some weird type of debri on the road. it looked like a chrome tip that broke from a car. well i didnt have enough room to move out of the way since i had a truck on my right, a small car near my left blindspot so it was slow motion for me as the piece of debri went under my car and all i heard was it hitting stuff under my car.

Im kind of worried of what kind of damage this would cause ? or if i should get it checked or wait to till something happens?

Unless you have a puddle under your car or you're out of alignment, I wouldn't worry too much.

Check your tires for cuts or other damage. Keep an eye on the air pressure for a few days. Look underneath at the vital areas like the brake lines and fuel tank. If all that is fine, it probably sounded worse that it really was.

yeah take a look around under there with a flashlight or halogen if you have one and see if there's any debris left in your undercarriage. I ran over a tree branch once and the car carried it until I pulled over and yanked it out. Amazingly it didn't even scuff off the overspray body color on the undercarriage.

this car can take a great deal of abuse underneath, I've run over a lot of different things and not a dent or a scratch. interesting too that all this happens with this car, but not other cars I have driven before

You are potentially fine, just check the fuel lines under there and the emissions equipment under the spare tire area. I ran over a car fender yesterday and my car is lowered on 20's with a 30sidewall.... Knock on wood it is still holding up. And I just fixed the nail that i had in my brand new rear tires. Oh yeah a nail 1 week after getting them because I got a flat doing 100mph on a river road.. bad luck for me.

speaking of going over 100..man when I got the car I thought about taking off the governor... but ever since I owned the car over 1 month I never hit 100mph again. Most I see my speed get up to is maybe 90. Thing can go 142 I've read, that's just good enough to know. heh i've had my excitement younger going over 100 in an old beetle, that is more of a rush than these modern cars it's literally life or death.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry, I hit a raccoon doing 90 down the interstate at 3am on my way back from florida a week after i bought the car...LOUD THUD....

Oh yeah, then i stopped and saw the black rubber hanging from the front of the bumper, and the a/c condenser bent, oh and the boot around the steering that leads to the front wheel was torn with raccoon hair hanging out of it...

so maybe, you should crawl under there and have a look see. these cars aren't invincible, at least when it comes to raccoons..
