it makes it easier to apply the vinyl - here's how it works : when you get a vinyl decal made that says "m u s t a n g" for example, it has one sheet of wax type paper that the vinyle is attached to. the transfer tape is sorta like 14 day painters tape - it sticks but not very well - the transfer tape is placed over the decal and pressed down on to the decal with a hard flat edge (credit card or such) so now your left with 3 layers - 1 wax paper, 2 vinyl decal, 3 transfer paper, then you just peel the transfer tape off and it pulls the decal with it exposing the sticky side of the decal. this is normally for letters and such if you want to keep the same amount of spacing betwen the letters instead of pulling each one off the wax paper by hand and risk misaligning or stretching them.
