6-Speed Performance?

6-Speed Performance?
REALLY thinking of doing the 6-speed swap from ddperformance.com and just wanted to know if I would lose any performance or anything? Did some research and found that the gearing in both transmissions is very different. 6-speed is (2.97 1.78 1.30 1.00 .80 .62) and the stock 5-speed manual is (3.34 2.00 1.32 1.00 .68). Will this cause a slower time on the 1/4 mile since 1st gear is 2.97 on the 6-speed? I want the 6-speed because I have always wanted a 6-speed and this is the same transmission that comes out of the gt500...I plan to put a forged stroker kit in the engine and up the boost on the whipple to 14+psi. Should I just keep the stock 5-speed or would I get some advantages with the 6-speed performance wise?

Become an F1 driver. Only cars with 7 speed manual gear boxes, well sequential.
Everything else is automatic, or manumatic. Lexus has an 8 speed, but when it's an automatic whats the point?

You may notice a littleless pep out of the hole with the 6 speed, but with 14PSI it might be beneficial to help you get that power to the ground.I'm shocked to see that gear six is only .06 difference vs. gear 5 in the 5 speed. Damn, and I thought with the 6 speed swap I would see alot better highway MPG. I had no idea that 5th (5 speed tranny)gear was so close to 6th gear (6 speed tranny).

RE: 6-Speed Performance?
I have the 6 speed and it really didn't effect my launch..........I can't get traction![:@]
I am switching to 3.55 gears and putting on some bogarts and slicks to help solve the problem.
I will say that six does drop the RPM's on the highway visibly when shifting from 5th. You can definetly see and hear a diference.

Honestly I dont really see any reason to swap a 3650 for a shelby 6060. You wont really gain anything other than another gear.
Now if you could get the 6060 from a Viper with a .5 overdrive gear in 6th now we are talking. You could run 4.10 and still be at 1800 at 80mph on the highway.
I want to do this swap too but wont until I can get the viper gearing.
