Default exhaust options

I'm having trouble deciding what to do about my exhaust. The stock sounds ok but I would like it to be louder and have more engine sound rather than muffler. If I could have my way I would just run without mufflers. Johnny law probobly won't like that so I'm stumped for ideas. I really want the sound of no mufflers but I need to be legal. I havn't been impressed by any of the aftermarket stuff so far. Too ricy for me. Any ideas?

Check and see if it is actually against the law to run without mufflers...

Its legal here, but you may be supprised... as lon as you keep the "Cats" you might be ok...

But if not, get some headers, replace "cats" with High Flow Catalytic Converts, and then get a dummy muffler... straight pipe with a muffler body wrapped around it..

Remember that the muffler has nothing to do with emissions it only dampens the sound. There are some towns around here that have "Noise Ordinaces" which require mufflers to be run in town... but that is never enforced...

My town has an ordinance about music now... ah hell what is the world coming to?!

But this is the south, people can still go missing here and folks dont ask many questions!!!

I doubt it would pass your inspections, I bet they would say it's too loud without mufflers. No way it passes without cats.

I went and looked it up. You have to have mufflers in Texas. I may try the high flow cats and dummy muffler idea.

Bummer...

But yeah the dummy muffler will probably get you by just fine... If I remember right, when I lived in Texas, it is just a visual inspection anyway... isn't it?

California is like friggin **** Germany when it comes to smog control!!!

(<- never moving back the Cali!!)

I have a cool mechanic that I'm about to go work for. I'm sure he could hook me up.

Anyone have the borla exhaust? I heard an older one on a 04 cobra and it sounded awesome. I'm wondering if they sound the same on the 05 gt's?

Sorry lost my mind for a sec.
I have those JBA long tube off road headers with that X pipe and magnaflow powerpacks believe me when I tell you I do not sound like rice. Of course I cant be quiet now either. Lost the "cats" too. not that I am complaining. But shorty headers would do just fine also.
