Default lowering the 05

For those of you who have lowered your 05, have you just used springs, or have you bought new shocks/struts or a suspension kit?
What brands did you use?

On the lowering kit I got through STEEDA I didnt have to change anything out other then the springs since the drop wasnt that low only about 1 inch. Dont know about the 2inch drop kits though, my guess would be yes, but you might want to search the boards to see if anyone has gone lower, or call Eibach or H&K directly.

I ordered the two inch drop springs through Stang Suspension. They said I should not need to replace the shocks and struts but it would be close. I will let you know when I get my car back from the dealer and install them. At the least you will have to cut the rubber bump stops for clearance.

For those that have already lowered and only changed the springs did you need to do a front end alignment also?

Always align after lowering a car, actually realign anytime major suspension work is done on a strut suspension.

before you guys go and lower you cars you should probably know about some of the side effects. im not just talking about scraping you bumper and rougher ride but also bump steer. if you dont know what it is its what happens when the suspension geometry is so far off factory specs that as the tire moves up and down itll tow in and tow out. basicly the car will steer (without the wheel moving) itself over anything but a perfectly smooth road. probably not much of an issue with only 1 inch drop but ive heard guys talkin about 2+ inches!! if your going to lower your car that much you had better know what your doing or youll end up with a car that handels WORSE

Thank you Silent Bob. I couldn't find a view of that fast enough. Thats what the aftermarket is all about. If you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch with the wash machine and refridgerator. Lol
