I just ordered the AVIC-D3 w/Bluetooth and am figuring out where to install the microphone. I'm thinking there is a neat spot under the gauge cluster (center area, just below the odometer) and above the steering wheel. There is about a 3/8 to 1/2 area just below the chrome trim area. I would need to drill a small hole there and secure the microphone with maybe hot glue or something. I think someone did this already but I don't remember who. Has anyone else did this?

Any other suggestions on where to install it?

 

I installed mine on the drivers side a-pillar right above the door, clipped it right to plastic. Wires ran perfectly, and it works great.

smythge/157db, how did you run the wire, behind the A-pillar trim and then around to expose the mic? How did you secure the mic? hot glue?
