Do any of you use your traction control to get a better launch?

you really need to turn if off to get a good launch. I leave mine on for just normal driving, but whenever I know I'm going to get on it, I switch it off.

Doesn't the traction control also apply break pressure?

Yes - the TCS is hooked into both the engine managment and the anti-lock system
