new shifter
Tonight instead of shoveling @!?%$?&% snow AGAIN me and my brother in law decided to go and install my hurst shifter. he came to help out cause i guess he felt sorry for corrupting me after i had tested the one installed in his mustang, I really like the precise and solid feeling you get with the Hurst. I like the retro look FOR NOW, I know there are other great shifters out there but i guess it's all about your needs and personnal preference.

I wasn't a huge fan of 3rd and 5th so i'm going to try to get someone to show me an MGW at a car show this spring, but the hurst is leaps and bounds over the stock one that's for sure. But it doesn't look promising that winter will ever end in Illinois. Damn thing still only has 20 miles on it
Welcome to the club. The Hurst is a great shifter. It's not for everybody. If you like the positive feel of knowing when you're in gear, the taller handle, and the super short throws, this is the shifter for you. If you're wanting the smoothness of a Ferrari, then you'll want the MGW. I, personally, like the notchy feel of the Hurst.
If you're having trouble getting into 3rd and 5th at higher RPM's, that not the shifter, that's the driveline torqueing. Stiffer motormounts, or a CHE K-Member Brace with Torque Limiters will solve that. No shifter can make that disappear.

Well, i'm not going to try to prove you wrong, because you could definately be correct, but i think i remember more people talking about the Hurst having the same problems i did. It seemed like the upper row was kind of tricky and narrow like you didn't have much room for error. It is possible that they changed the mechanics of the shifter, in the later years. I bought mine towards the end of '05 when they first came out.
