Default Is this TPMS related

So I was driving home and I get a message saying Tire Pressure Monitoring Fault. So I pull over and notice that this part (see pic below) was missing from one of my wheels (stock.) Before I take it to the dealership I just want to get some info. So my question is, is this thing related to the TPMS? If it isn't what is it?

That's for the balancing, I believe.

Yep that's the weights they use to balance the wheel. If it's missing, it might not have needed balanced. Can you see marks from where one used to be or something?

Thanks for the help. I don't see any marks now that I look, it was night when I got the error message and all I could see is that it wasn't there, so it must be normal then. I guess I'll have to have the dealer explore for the problem then.

Hi

Inflate all four tires to 35 lbs and check spare at 40 lbs.

End of problem.

Does the message stay? hit the reset button and see if it comes back? check the air in each tire. the tpms sensors are in the air valve (stems)and a band in the tire. Did you change anything? I ve heard they need calibrating from the wheels to the computer. I d say check air first. then lift the negitive lead to the battery for couple minutes put back on and if it comes back then take it to the dealer.
I have aftermarket wheels and did not put new sensor/bands in the rims. Theres other ways around it.

Brian
the spare dosnt have a sensor

Tire Pressure Sensor Fault — If equipped, the message center will display TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR FAULT when a tire pressure sensor is malfunctioning

Tire Pressure Monitor Fault — If equipped, the message center will display TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR FAULT when the tire pressure monitoring system is malfunctioning or communication with the instrument cluster has been lost

This is what I've got. If I hit reset it will go away and randomly come back later. Sometimes within minutes, sometimes in a few hours. Stock wheels/tires and still under warranty, so hopefully I won't be given a hard time.
