I put a strip of masking tape around my stock antenna at 8" and at 14" and then walked around and looked at it from all different angles and distances, and the 8" height just didn't do it for me. 14" antenna flows perfectly with the lines of the car, in my opinion, so I went with that from AmericanMuscle.

 

I've always wondered if the shorter ones change the reception of the radio?

14 inch from AM. I lost no reception.

 

14" from American Muscle.. I kept the sailboat mast, just in case I do drive somewhere and need better reception , but so far that has not been an issue at all.

I may put that sailboat mast on my Explorer. -- it is the same antenna that is on there now only a different color.

 

Size does matter. Only thing is, some like em short and some like em longer.

 

I like the look of the 14" antenna, i'm gonna cut mine down sometime this week if i get a chance.

 

14" IMHO fits the roof line better.
Is it not an eye putter outer when
its short? You would have to be pretty
tall to put your eye out with the OEM
antenna.
