Default Install cluster upgrade for 2007 with TPMS

I want to install a cluster upgrade for a 2007 mustang with the TPMS. I had my dealer do it 2 months ago and he couldn't get the TPMS fault message to clear. The normal TPMS calibration didn't workand nothing they tried worked so they put the old cluster back in and gave up. Then the TMS light started coming on with the old cluster. They then called Ford who gave them a "back-door" fixthru the Smart Junction Box (SJB).

Has anyone witha 2007+ mustang with the TPMS had their cluster upgraded? Any dealers in Virginia that you know have done this? I believe that my local dealer could make it work this time since they discovered the "back-door" procedure for the TPMS cal but they don't want to try.

What trim level was your mustang?

The 2008 GT and GT Conv premare able to accept the 6 guage cluster with mycolor but they need a reflash.

Well I'm from the CT/NY/NYC area so no. This is not something dealer service centers typically do so your best bet is to take it to the dealer that you baught the car from and to do so before you filled out any customer satisfaction survey.

If your car has the wiring harness to support the new cluster and the accociated buttons on the dash then its a simple plung and play for them to do it and a reflash. If the ford dealer does it then its warrantied.

If your car does not have the wiring harness for all this then your in uncharted territory and likey it will be cost prohbitive to do. In this case think about trading the car in.

The good news is you likely have what it takes but need tofind a dealer thatis willing to do the install and the reflash.

Be clear that you want the cluster installed and that you want mycolor to work. You don't want to confuse them, initally a ford dealer I was working with thought I wanted a the entire IUP with the chrome plating on the dash.

The harness is there for the buttons on 100% of the S197 stangs.
The harness for the cluster is the same for the basic and the message center/my color one.
They communicate down a high speed can buss. [/quote]

The hardware is all there, its the software that throws the dealers for a loop when doing any can buss parts swapping. They just dont do it everyday and its beyond some Ford technicians. [:@]

This is not true at all, there were some 05s that did not have the harness for the buttons installed. Ford has problems with the mycolor and pulled it from the lineup of options for a brief period. It should be in all 06+ and most all 05s, but there are about 1-2 months in 05 where cars that were made would not have this harness

Default RE: Install cluster upgrade for 2007 with TPMS

I upgraded my cluster myself. Took about 20 minutes to swap out. Ensure battery is disconnected before installing the cluster. Once new cluster was installed, reconnected battery and started car. I got the TPMS notification, hit reset and turned off the car. On second start up it came again. Hit reset and it went away permanantly but not until after I let car run for awhile. It seemed like the computer needed to learn the new cluster. No reflash was needed.

The only other question I could think to ask: Did you check your tire pressures? I ask because you said the TPMS came on whenthe old cluster was reinstalled.

I forgot about those few first production 05s that had the bugs.
The first of the 05sare adifferent kind of filly with bugs and such.
I have the basic cluster and the plug is there. They even molded
a dummy receptical for it to plug into on the back of the blank
switch filler plate to keep the connector from rattling or getting
lost behind the dash.
