There have been about 1000 posts explaining that the reprogram DOES NOT AFFECT OUR TUNES. They program the RCM (Restraint Control Module) and not the PCM (Powertrain Control Module). If you want to be extra safe mention to the service tech that you have a custom tune and not to touch the PCM.

Well, maybe not quite 1000 eh?

The problem will come when some keen technician [sic] sees that there is an upgrade available for the PCM and thinks he's doing the owner a favour by also flashing that while he's 'plugged in'.

Unfortunately differences between stock and custom tunes can be quite subtle so it's not always easy to immediately detect that your Brenspeed race tune has been wiped.
Ialways install my Valet tune forwhenI take her in, that way not only are the tech's unable to rag on my baby, but it'd be obvious whenI collect it that the PCM has been reflashed.

I'm hoping it's a female hooker, not the typical type? [8D]

My roomate got his notice yesterday. He's the original owner of his 07.

I just got my 06 a month ago and am the 2nd owner. Nothing has come in the mail but I took the car in anyway and they applied the fix for it.

Is it really, really necessary to have this fix done? I don't like taking my car to the dealer for anything.

tunes are not affected. I made sure I told the technician over 5 times not to touch the PCM that I had a custom tune in it. They didn't bother me about the mods, did my oil change and recall in a matter of an hour

Well, if you have a passenger that is small and petite and you get into an accident, the passenger side airbag could do harm to that person. You would be responsible for that person's injuries or death.....not Ford or your insurance company.

Taking it in to a reputable dealership will not do any harm to your car. I know the one I take it to, is like Mustang heaven. They take very good care of my car. Besides, it only takes 25 minutes or less.
