Default A question I dont know the answer too. Help Please

To my family of Mustang owners. I have a 2005 Legend Lime GT which I can see picks of.

I want to put a Shelby GT500 engine a transmission into it.

#1 can it be done. #2 where can I find the engine.

#2 what else would need to be changed. Can I keep my shaker hood. Do I need to change the disc brakes a calipers because they are still stock.

Any responses or suggestions would be awesome.

#1 anything can be done with enough $$.
#2 Boneyard? Dealer? Depends what you want to spend.
Second #2 I'm not 100% positive, but I THINK on an 05 (and an 06 for that matter) the strut towers would have to be modified. I THINK. Not sure. But either way, it won't jsut be a drop it in and start it up kind of procedure.. For the amount of money you'd spend, unless you can find the drivetrain for like $5k, you might just be better off getting a GT500.

I thought about that. Problem is. Legend lime color, Foose rims, perfect nitto 555 tires. Mostly its the Legens Lime color. I wouldnt want to give that up. I have quite abit done to my car but it just isnt fast enough. I guess I could do headers, pulleys, x-pipe and get quite abit more speed. I think. Im good with cars to a point. Suggestions that way my friens.

be prepared to spend a small fortune! The 5.4 supercharged engine (assuming you'll keep the supercharger) is much more expensive than the stock 4.6.

It would be much easier and less expensive for you to just buy a new or used GT500, throw on your Foose rims, and paint it Legend Lime!
That would be an amazing car!

Uhh, headers, pullies, and an x-pipe aren't going to get you "quite abit more speed"..

If you've got the $$ that you're actually SERIOUSLY entertaining a 5.4 swap, then just buy a blower for yout 4.6. It'll hold you over for a while.


PS - If one of your "reasons" for not wanting to switch to a different Mustang is because of the wheels and tires on your current one, then.. *sigh*

take the money u would have spent on the 5.4 and build up the 4.6 forged internals....turbo or S/c will get u well into the GT500 eater without the higher insurance and more gas stops ( only if ur not WOT at every stop light/sign u come to) and u get to keep ur Legend lime

It would probably be much cheaper to forge the low end and supercharge it. Depending on the supercharger you go with you might be able to keep the shaker.

the GT500 engine is around 14k

do the math on what it's going to take to modify the engine bay to get that in and then whatever suspension/brake upgrades you'll need to make it work. forgot about the gauges, etc.

so im thinking to give it a little bit. jba shorty headers, MSD coil packs, steeda undrive pulley and a custom dyno tune. To go with my current stuff should make a diffrence. what do you all think
