CB is the best radar detector when traveling on the hwy thats for sure.

One time on a trip the truck drivers kept calling out a plain wrapper(unmarked cop) at such n such mile marker. Well it had me freaked out every time because I was at or near the same mile marker. Then we figured it out, they thought I was the unmarked in my blacked out black tbird with a big **** antenna on the trunk, lol.
10-4 good buddy. this is why we need cb's. when i was little i would sit in my dads truck and screw with all the truckers haha
Too funny! I've been trucking for over 24 years, and in the industry there's a saying about a good buddy. That's one who goes out and get's 2 bj's and comes back and gives you one! Why would anyone seriously want to put aCB in their Mustang? Feeling like Joe Dirt, or does the family tree just not fork at all?[8D]For semis and rednecks they're good, but for your car................never mind![&:]

Well if all your friends were into CB, guess what? You would be too!
We were heavily into it back in the late 80's. It's a better way to keep in touch with your friends that the silly cell phones, especially now that they can't be used in cars come this July here in CA!
Just get a peaked and tweaked unit and a magnet mount that will hold different size Big Sticks/ Fire Sticks and experiment.
Unless you live in the sticks. Then you can go with the best hammerdown: ball mount of the rear quarter panel or the trunk lid!

I will admit I own a CB, actually a tweaked Cobra 148GTL and have used it on trips when in my truck, but in the Mustang, I dont know....... I would hate to see that K40 mag on the rear deck.

I have the radio set up in one of those "pull out" radio bags. remember when people used to remove their radio from the dash? that way I can put it in any vehicle I want to. But it has not yet seen my Mustang and probably won't.

I have a Cobra 75WXST, the one that has all the controls
in themic handset, itdrops in the cup holder on the console.
The small power unit is mounted under the pass seat.
I mounted twin shorty antennas hidden behind front and rear
plastic bumpers on drivers side. Unless I leavemic lay out
youwon't know I have it. I run the E-way alot and it is good
to recieve traffic reports, doesn't have alot of TX range but
does RX pretty good. You will notice high noise with squelch
off due to our drive by wire throttle control, haven't been
able to find a way to filter it out.
I'm an old navy aviation electonics tech, worked on supersonic spy planes and hold a FCC repair license.
So there are ways to due it without looking AFU'd.

I have to disagree with not putting one in my stang. I have a converted Ranger Ham rig in my stang, It's large like the 148 GTL but I have the bracket mounted to 2 srews that hold the glove box in. Also have an trunk mounted antenna on it as well. We all know detectors are just about useless against laser these days. I like the fact that I can know where the cops are setup a few miles in advance. Get just one ticket and those surcharges on your insurance and I think you will get over the antenna on the trunk! Lets face it, these cars are just not happy cruising at 65 MPH on an open road. I do alot of long road trips in the stang and my other cars and will not set out on the road without a CB in the ride. To each his own but but don't just hate the idea if you never used one. They are not perfect but have saved my a$$ many many times on the road.
