I have Ravelco disabling system. Car cannot be started; with front wheels turned, even a tow or ramp truck steal wouldtypically be impossible.

can you explain a bit more about the Ravelco?

I was just doin some looking at it, and it looks like the best thing out there..

no dealer in NC though.. [&:]

what should it set me back, $ wise?

I see they cost 399.99 with a full install and warranty,
but they dont have any dealers near me..

Does it work like a second key?
Do you have to have it to start the car?
Does it come with more than one keychain starter?

Thanks!

I got the Python alarm model 871xp thru Circuit City. Has the failsafe starter kill, the sensors, the whole works. There is no code hopping on this baby. I have the pager remote to let me know if something is going on with the car, which is great. It has a bunch of other features, especially if you own an automatic. I was kind of iffy at first being it was Circuit city, but the guy who installed mine did an awesome job. I have been pretty happy with it

Brands I would go with -- Viper or Clifford. They are the 2 best IMO hands down. IF you choose any one of their models, you should be in good hands.

Viper 5301C - Best Alarm, Installed it in each of my past 5 vehicles after one of my cars was broken into in St. Louis Suburb right off of a busy street during College. Now I live in a town the size of 4,200 and the closet city that is bigger than that 4500 people is an hour away...so I'm in boonedocks but I still install the Viper cause its just that freakin good! Has all the bells and whistles from their site: [ul][*]6-channel, 1-way remote start system with keyless entry lets you start your car and lock and unlock your car doors with ease[*]Miniature XCRS (Extreme Capacity Relay Satellite) system[*]Clone-Safe Code-Hopping ensures no other remotes will work with your system[*]Parking lights illuminate when the vehicle is running[*]Antigrind feature prevents the starter from engaging when the vehicle is running; Failsafe starter kill feature[*]Built-in turbo timer[*]Security features include Stinger DoubleGuard shock sensor and Revenger 6-tone siren[*]Optional features include dome light supervision, defroster output, comfort closure, horn honk and 4 auxiliary channels for additional remote devices (not included)[/ul]

He has a manual so probably the Viper 5002 would be best. Non-remote start.

You need the pin plug to start the car. The installer was great, it took him a good two hours as it involved removal of the main circuit panel in the engine compartment. All I could really tell was that he ran a lot of new wiring including dummy wires through existing lines. The wires were labeled until after everything was tested, then the labels were removed. I remember asking him that if he started now after just completing the job how long it would take him to start the car. He said about 3 hours but after a few days or if it were any of the other installers that it would take about 5 hours or more. All wiring has the look of OE after the work is done.

I may add something one day to alert meupon tampering but my first interest was to prevent anyone from starting the vehicle.
