Default opening window thunk...

Hey all

i've noticed from time to time, when I open either window, that righ when it stops I get a thunk, like the window glass has stopped on metal. it's not all the time, but it's quite a bunch. Has anyone else had this issue? should I bring it up to the dealer

Thanks

On most cars, there is rubber stops on the bottom of the door so the window rests on those.
I haven't messed with the S197s glass yet but I bet that this little Gizmo has bailed out or is about to.

If you guys take your door panel off, you'll be able for sure, to tell what the problem is.

Its common on mine from the dealership.
Thunks sometimes.
Then other times quiet as can be.
Might try recalibrating the windows.

I have had the same problem a few times as well. It is a calibration problem because of the way they open the 1/4" when you open and close the doors. Normally it will recalibrate itself after it thunks on the rubber strip at the bottom of the window frame inside the panel. No need to take the panel off. If it continually happens, while car is off with key in "on" position and window up hold the window up function for 6 seconds. I called the dealer and they gave me this information. I have only had it happen once where it kept happening. I did their suggestion and it hasn't happened since. I think the windows are set to calibrate themselves, so it usually doesn't continue to happen.

This happens on my '06 quite often and from what I've been able to tell at times my window doesn't go all the way down (you can see the top edge of it sticking out jsut a tiny bit) and others it will and when it does actually go all the way down is when I get the noise. Usually though my windows stop right before they are all the way down so I rarely hear it and when I do I just roll them part of the way back up and then back down again and it fixes it.
