Default 25mm offset vs. 45 mm offset

The wheels I ordered have a 25mm offset and some people wonder if that is a problem because the 05 has to have 45mm offset. Is this true? If so, what, if anything, is the fix?

Help appreciated.

The wheels are the 18" chrome bullitts from OEM that say they fit the 94-05 GT, but the box says 2001 mustang on the side.

Thanks in advance.

Thats what I was talking about in your previous post. I don't think they will fit. You should be careful buying things that fit 05 and previous models. Not too many parts interchange. I would not recomend spacers. I think you should cancel your order or send them back if you have received them already.

Would the claim on e-bay be fraudulent then saying that they fit? If not, I will have to ship them back (expensive) and pay a $35 restocking fee. If it is fraudulent, then I should be able to get all my money back without having to pay for the shipping or restocking fee.

Yes that is a fraudulent claim. They are not made to fit the 05 so that is a false statement. If you paid by Visa you can seek their help in re-couping the money as well. Let EBAY know this is a false claim too.

I am going over to Discount Tire now to have them put the rim on the car and find out if it fits. The tech at DT thought that it was 50/50 that it would fit, but erred on the side of saying he thought it would with the 5-lug.

I called OEM distributors and asked the specific question about the wheels and the guy said that he has already sold 100's of their wheels with the 25mm offset and has had no problems.
OEM is considered pretty reputable, so I guess I will have to wait and see what happens at Discount Tire.

Not a clue on the possible change in handling.
However, will change the wear pattern on the wheel bearings and spindle. May not be a good thing.

I know Steeda re-tooled for the 05 wheels. They already had Ultralight I's for the 04 mustang but re-tooled for the same wheel for an 05. It sounds like to me the wheel will stick out 20 MM more than if it was made for an 05.

How do I know if it is a positive or negative offset? + vs. -, thus it is a positive offset, which means the inside of the wheel sits closer to the brake calipers? It looked like to me that the bullitt style was not at all indented into the wheel well, so I don't know what to make of it. Discount Tire is supposed to have my tires in tomorrow, so I am going to go over there and have them see what the deal is at that time. If I had time today I would have them mount one and see what would happen, but I don't, so I need to worry for one more day.

I have seen these wheels on a 05. They stick out further than the stockers. The only real problem you will have is the tires are going to throw up whatever they pick up on the car body. If I were you, I would at least put on the Ford molded rear mudflaps. That will help. Otherwise over time you are going to have paint damage behind the rear tires.
