Default side scoop installation ,what do you think?

Just got my OEM side scoops back from paint ,they look awesome , I am not too crazy about using the supplied template and actually drilling holes in my quarter panels. The OEM side scoops are fastened with 2 way tape all around and 2 plastic clips held in the quarters, was just wondering if 2 way tape would hold up to avoid drilling, i know aftermarket side scoops are held up with 2 way tape what do YOU think?

I'd do the drilling, it's not like you're taking them off right?

btw, is this on a Bullitt?

I just used the 3M tape on the OEM scoops. I did not want to drill any holes in the car just in case I decide to change it in the future. Ilike it now but I don't know how i't feel years form now. It's nice to have the option and not have to worry about holes.

I plan on just using the tape also. Mine are painted sitting in the basement just waiting for a warm day. I've talked to another person who only did the tape and hasn't had any problems either.

I'm definitely with odiaz ...what if I decide I don't like them later on?

I would not recommend drilling holes.
The holes are just for assembly line alignment ease.
There are no clips on the studs providing any holding power?
Clip off the plastic alignment pins and use cafeful placement.
Maybe visit the local dealership and view some OEM placed
side scoops to get a real good idea of where they go.

Nice to hear that the tape holds them on,They're kind of expensive with the paint and all just don't want them to fly off on the freeway!

I was expecting horror stories!!

Warm day for the install and use 3M 4298adhesion promoter for the 3M VHB tape.
Keep applying pressure for 5-10 minutes after aligning them and sticking
them into place to allow the3M acrylic tapeto acclimate to the temp
of the vehicle surface.
Dont go doing 80MPH down the freeway for a couple of days to let the acrylic
adhsive time to bond properly and set.

My side scoops are taped and holding fine after 10,000 miles plus high speed runs. Be sure to prep properly, watch the temperature and cure for 24.

Not a good idea to drill holes in your car, especially for something that light.
