TPMS / TUBE TRICK

Hy guys, I just want to know if anybody has actually tried the tube trick and if it works. And if there are any issues after a long term vehicle storage. I removed my sensors and put them in a tube but I cant try it yet because I have not received my new wheels and I'm debating if I should put them on the new wheels or just leave them in the tube.

Thanks to all who respond. By the way I'm waiting on the steeda ultralites.

I think you have to pump air into the tube? TPMS is a pain the ass though.

I set it up properly and inflated it to 35psi. The thing is my car has been stored for six months and can't try it till my wheels come in.

What's the big deal of installing them in your new wheels? The band kits are $17.90 each at AmericanMuscle. Just install them and you won't be messin' around with a tube that'll likely need to be pumped back up occasionally.

I've heard yes and no to the trick ...

If I remember right, the motion is what activates them so it might not work unless the tube shakes around.

That can't be right or the system would alert after the car sits. I believe they are solely pressure sensitive. If so, then the tube thing should work. I think there are some members that have done it because this topic comes up frequently. Hopefully, they'll chime in.

+1 in getting new bands, they're cheap.

But what if I have a bad TPS sensor? Can I get used sensor and just remove the old one and throw in the new one? or do they need some type of reprograming?

I hate TPS !!!!!!!![:'(][:@]

yes the tube trick will work, they will go into sleep mode after not sensing motion for a while and not trigger a tpms fault because the pressure was all right when they went into sleep mode, i read somewhere that you have to be going like 20mph to wake up the sensors,

i installed mine in my knew wheels, but after reading this i thought of a solution... put them in your spare tire and then pump it up to 35 psi haha
