If you're thinking of installing lowering springs in the front, I'd try this....

Jack up under the control arm so the stock spring is compressed, undo center nut on top of strut, lower jack and catch the strut cap. Your new springs should be short enough that you won't need to compress them to get them on and the nut started.

I'm doing Steeda Lowering Springs & Pro Action Struts tomarrow. Let me quote something IN BOLD LETTERS on the install instuctions.
THE POTENTIAL ENERGY STORED IN THE SPRINGSCAN BE VERY DANGEROUS IF NOT PROPERLY DISASSEMBLED. FOLLOW FACTORY SERVICE PROCEDURES OR HAVE THIS INSTALL PERFORMED BY A QUALIFIED TECH. YOU NEED A SPRING COMPRESSOR FOR THE FRONT SPRINGS. Yord taking a big risk if you don't use a spring compressor. you should be able to rent one at Auto Zone or a parts store. i borrowed one from my mechanic. See taco Bills instructions on this forum.
Good luck...........BE SAFE

Settle down. We're just trying to help. I've heard people ask about compressing springs by hand many times, but they were always asking because they were thinking of installing lowering springs without a compressor.

Of course, you'll be able to compress the springs by hand...a little.

he means the shocks and struts...no i couldn't compress my dspecs at all and I also couldnt compress my springs by hand. I would think that if your hands can compress them, then they aren't up to the job of 3800 lbs

He gets PO`d because you can`t friggin READ!

To the OP, all the gas charged struts or shocks I`ve installed are difficult to compress, even with one end on the floor and my 200lbs "pushing"
