Default Invoice Pricing Question/08 GT/CS

I have been looking around for an 08 GT/CS. Found one that I liked with MSRP of 32,790 not including tax and tags). I have checked in a few different places for invoice price information (Edmunds, KBB, etc.). The highest price I found was 30,150 in Edmunds and as low as 29,700.

Options on car:

3.5 Axel Ratio, Charcoal Instrument Panel, Comfort Group, GT California Group, Interior Upgrade, Shaker 1000 Stereo.

The dealership is saying that the invoice is 31,500 in Edmunds. Am I wrong for thinking I should be able to get a vehicle with MSRP of 32,790 down in price more than just $1,200? Is there a better way to figure out what price should be?

you should be able to bring them down. Are there any incentives in your area?

With the incentives in my area I had 2 choices
23k for a mustang gt premum loaded or:
25K for a mustang gt premium GT/CS

I didnt want to spend the extra 2k...
Based on what that dealership was going let the car go to me, you should be able to get the numbers down much more than 1200...

I bought an 07 GT/CS had it out the door Tax &Title at $26,500 and some change MSRP was $31,500, so they can come down a lot off of what the sticker says. Now I didn’t get the nave system or any of that fancy extra stuff and on that note if it does have anyextra little goodies that you don't want/ needlet the dealer know and they can remove them. they will argue like all heck and say that is part of the package this and that but in the end The GT/CS is the same as any other GT premium with an additional ford package priced at $1,800 and some change. And on that note if they don't want to work with you go to another dealer and get a quote and then another and play the bargain game. That is what I did and in the end I had my car out the door for 5,000 under MSRP and yes it did take 6 days arguing with sales men but it saved me alot of cash to invest at a later time . Also Don't hide the fact that your looking around, sales men work on commission and do want to sell you a car.Fun Fact sales men get a percentage of every car sold, the more they sell it for the more there percentage. And at the end of the year the sales men that sells the most gets a bonus,so if they think that they are going to lose your business they will work with you, oh yeah and try not to tick them off or they won't work with you anymore hehehe had to learn that lesson the hard way. Hope this helps you out.

There are incentives. $1500 rebate or 1.9%@36months/2.9@48months/3.9@60 months. My plan is to go with the the 3.9 @ 60 months, that was why I was trying to get price down more. I am currently waiting on my PIN that I requested to be able to use xplan pricing. MSRP $32,340....xplan $30,004.82...which is what I was trying to get to in the first place.

xplan is just ahair under invoice. 2300 off of msrp sounds right to me. unless you have huge factory incentives your not going to get a $33000 car for25000.60k denali's don't even have that much mark-up.
if you just go to fordvehicles.com you can build your car and it will actually list dealer invoice in the buildsummary.

I would bet if you took the$1500 rebate and looked around for good rates you will be better off. I can get 60 months rates on new cars of 4.55% right now.find a loan calculator and figure it both ways. good luck.

Doesn't contain much truth,I’d like to know what part of my message doesn’t contain much truth. Just because you didn't shop around and get the best price that you could don't put down other people. I have bought three different cars in the last five years. I bought a 99 F-150 and lost my A$$ on that deal and have not made that mistake since. Then I traded that for A Mitsubishi eclipse (took a large hit on negative equity),it wasn't what I wanted in the end so I paid on that until I wasn't to upside down on it from the hit I took from the truck. And now I have my Mustang and if you want the best price you'll find that shopping around is the best way to do it. And if you do let the other dealer know that your shopping around they will come down on price. And yes I did get a $31,500 car out the door at $26,500 Actually it may have been like $26,800 but as I'm currently deployed (military) I can't just look at my bill of sale and reference it for you. So as I previously stated Play the bargain game it works. And yes sales men do work on commission they do get end of year bonuses and they do make more money on a vehicle sold over MSRP then one that they come down on. And with that being said they also make more money on a selling a vehicle under MSRP than losing the sale to another dealership and getting nothing.

I'm a ford dealer I guess thats how I know... The salesmen under me make 25%-35% of the gross profit over invoice. The average gross on a new vehicle is invoice in this day and age and that pays anywhere from $75 to $150 depending on who you work for.
For you to get a 31500 car for the price listed out the door there is more to the story then what your telling. Did you have equity in your trade? What were the rebates? How muchtax is collected where you live? You just threw a number out there without explaininghow you came to that number.

Simply put go to the ford website build a car and get the invoice. xplan isn't much under invoice (sometimes even a little more)
you take the invoice, less the rebates in your region and thats the number you can look at paying. SOMETIMES the dealer may have dealer cash available. It won't be known to you publicly so it's up to the dealer to decide whether to let you in on that. I haven't seen dealer cash on mustangs around here becausethe Mustang isone of the only ford'sthat sells well. The only other thing that can bring theprice down is if the dealerwill go into there holdback. On the mustang Ihave the TOTALholdback was 1100 I think. I wouldn't count on that happening unless the dealer has sat on the car for a long time or is really trying to finish a month strongly.
EVERY dealer pays the same price for the same car. Good Luck.
