I started to get some locking lugs when I got my shelby razor wheels. I talked to a mechanic who also is a great friend of mine. He was like "dont waste your money on any of those". I was surprised at his response so I asked why. He explained to me that if someone wants your wheels bad enough, all they do is get a socket that is slightly smaller than needed and then pound it on over the lug. So now its on your locked lug and snug.....insert wrench and its off. At "best" all locking lug nuts do is "slow" the theif down. In some cases that might make a difference, but I'm betting in most it wont at all.

Some locking nuts have internal splines and fit inside the wheel nut opening
in the rim eliminating the chance of a theif poundinga socketon over the lug.
There is just no cearance between the locking nut and the counterbore in
the rim to get anything over the locking lug. Tire shps have professional tools
to remove locking lugs for customers who loose the key and if shops have the
tools, you can bet theiveshave them also. And with tire/rim combos going for
thousands of dollars, the tool is just an investment for future profits for the
professional theif. Nothing is better theft provention than lights, dogs and
location specific parking. (deserted alleys in downtown high crime districts
is out of the question)
just try and sneak up on me at home

No doubt.....my next home purchase will be one in a culdesac. That way I not only can monitor the car/house easier and not have to worry about the idiots racing through my neighborhood at way too fast speeds, but it gives me plenty of room to be silly with my R/C t-maxx and car.
