Default Interesting problem, need help

Hey all:

I installed a Granatelli polished intake a couple of days ago. Everything went well 15 minute install. Car ran great with a bit more pep. After getting gas I got a check engine light. At the time a wrote down the codes but misplaced them. I cleared the codes and had no issues for 150 more miles. So forward to today......

After I cleaned the car today including the engine compartment, with a bit of water, although I did cover the air filter, I take the car for a ride. After I stop at the ATM and restart the car I get the CEL.

I wrote down the codes this time and I get a P0172 and a P0175 both banks running "rich". Now if anything, this CAI is known to run a bit lean, not rich. Anyway, I clear the codes and go on my way. Re-start, no codes.

Any opinions on what could have caused the codes? I mean running "rich", unbelievable. Could I have gotten the "wrong" thing wet under the hood when I cleaned?

Any answers appreciated.

It has what they call "a calibrated MAF sensor with a chip" and even without a tune I would think it would be running lean. Also, once I reset it no more CEL. The question is, why has it popped uptwice.

As I said I did get some water under the hood but I would think I would get an immediate CEL?

Yea I agree, you changed something and keep getting a CEL now, pretty straight forwards.

Yea, if the MAF is dirty I suppose it could cause those codes.

They had some problems with those when the first came out, I think. It might show up during a search. You could be looking at a defective MAF. That would be my guess.

Secondly, you should make sure that everything is installed properly. An improperly secured hose clamp could also cause a problem. Be careful not to over tighten anything, though! Still, if it were something loose, then you'd think it would be running lean, not rich.

Thats really odd. I'm interested in hearing what the answer is also.

I'm thinking that the MAF sensor must be the issue. Maybe calibrated incorrectly??

What other Mods do you have? You weren't already running some kind of tune were you?

Thanks, Guys....

No other tune...Just the Granatelli...I'm wondering if it is worth getting some MAF cleaners spray and try that.

It's always something....
